Tom Brady: Jaw-dropping stats from quarterback's 22 seasons
Tom Brady likely doesn’t have many regrets upon his retirement. However, one may have come in Week 4 of this season against the Patriots.
The 44-year-old, who has a touchdown pass against every other NFL team, failed to throw one in his lone career game against his former franchise. Tampa Bay got into New England’s red zone four times, but settled for three field goals and a Ronald Jones touchdown run in a narrow victory.
Brady retires with three-or-more TD passes against every team but the Patriots.
The Bay Area native has thrown for the most touchdowns (624) and yards (84,520) in NFL history, and that doesn’t include his 47 postseason games.
In 20 seasons with New England, Brady dominated the AFC East, a division he holds a career 90-22 record against — including a staggering 33-3 record against the Bills.
Tight end Rob Gronkowski, who played with Brady in New England and Tampa Bay, caught nearly 3,000 more yards than any other player from the Hall of Fame quarterback, according to stathead.com. In all, 22 players had 1,000 yards receiving from Brady.
And Brady stepped up his game when it mattered most, matching Drew Brees for most game-winning drives (giving his team the lead for good in the fourth quarter or overtime) since entering the league.
Of course, Brady benefited from playing on New England teams coached by Bill Belichick and featuring top-notch defenses and special teams. From 2001-19, New England matched Chicago for the best field position to start offensive drives (their own 32-yard line). The Patriots also averaged a 4.1-point lead when starting drives, but to the offense’s credit the Patriots were the only team to turn the ball over on fewer than 10% of drives.
Bills pass rusher Aaron Schobel has sacked Brady the most times (12), followed by Miami’s Jason Taylor (11). Ten players have three interceptions against Brady, who threw 18 pick-sixes in his career.
